Description

Studies were conducted into proper selection of grass species and varieties with different ripening rhythm, to secure optimum yields from the first growth harvested at different dates. The beginning of the heading stage in the principal components of a mixed grass stand was chosen as the optimal time for harvesting. The field experiments were carried out on three different sites in the Vistula marshland (Zulawy region). Expected satisfactory levelling of dry matter yield and of crude protein yields as well as of crude protein contents was not achieved.
