Description

These beautifully embroidered flowers were rescued from an older huipil, cut out, and sewn onto green piel de angel. There is a large market in used huipiles, precisely because some of the older work is finer and more highly valued among the Istmeñas. When going to fiestas and velas on the Isthmus, women do not like to wear the same dress in the same year. They save up for years for a new traje.
