James Gordon Lisanby (May 14, 1912 - December 9, 1997) was born in Princeton, Kentucky to Rufus Walker Lisanby and Hattie White. He practiced law in Princeton with his father. Lisanby served as Princeton City Attorney for over 20 years starting in 1942. He served as a special circuit judge and a district judge for several counties. Lisanby moved to Lyon County in the early 1960s and served as trial commissioner there in the late 1980s. He married Ethel Louise Rogers in 1935. Lisanby's brother, Charles Alvin Lisanby (UK Law '20), was also a graduate of the College of Law.
