Joseph Carlyle Carter*, LL.B.
Joseph Carlyle Carter (January 3, 1893 - September 25, 1962) was born in Dukedom, Tennessee to Martin Lon Carter and Sallie Ann Williams. After graduation, Carter practiced law in Mayfield, Kentucky. In 1917, Carter was appointed assistant county attorney for Graves County. Carter left the legal profession after serving in World War I. He instead began working as a pharmacist in Mayfield--a career that would last 40 years. Carter married Synthia Elizabeth Stokes in 1924.
