Description
An understanding of the processes of change is an important prerequisite for the development of techniques for the monitoring of condition and trend, and to interpret the ecological significance of determined condition classes. The approach to develop and use degradation models for determining range condition is illustrated in this paper by means of basic ecological data from the relatively high rainfall zone in the climatic climax grasslands (Mentis and Huntley, 1982) of southern Africa.
