Description

In another paper (Postiglione et al., 1989) was reported about the hard pedoclimatic condition of Southern Italy for fodder plants growth. An account of this, the knowledge of the environmental factors and cultural practices on growth rate and herbage yield of natural pasture of hilly areas of Southern Italy, is very important for the improvement of these pastures. This goal is possible studying the growth rate of the grass for the different environmental conditions and also using rational techniques to have the necessary balance between plant growth and yield. The study of the growth rate of the grass as cutting successively than with other methods (Corrall and Fenlon, 1978), for four years gave helpful informations about the yield of degradated pasture areas with fertilization of N-P-K.
