Description

The research in classifying the economic group of grassland plants according to their economic value is quite significant to the grassland management. Yield, feed quality and geographic distribution - the three factors reflecting the economic value of grassland plants - are controlled by ecobiological and form anatomical characteristics. We consider that to classify the economic groups of grassland plants based on plant life-form by combining with taxonomic family group is the most appropriate conclusion of influential factors, and adopt a two degree classifying system -

group and subgroup. Group : On the basis of Keller's lifeforms - tree, bush, semibush, perennial herb, annual herb, lichen and bryophyte, perennial herbs are further divided with botanic family group into Gramineae, Leguminosae, Cyperaceae group and Herbosa. Meanwhile, considering the special value and position of ephemeral plants as well as harmful and poisonous plants, we put them as two independent groups. There are 11 groups altogether. Subgroup : Most of them are classified according to growth patterns or the structures of stems and leaves except a few whose classification is based on family group in order to make distinct the economic values.
