Abstract
To Be Known is a collection of short stories revolving around young Black Women—in varying stages of life—as they navigate loneliness, love, and the relationships around them. There is the unspoken question: what are we willing to do to feel less alone? These stories are interested in what desperation and desire will drive a person to, as both a child and a budding adult. These characters, every one of them, has a desire to be known, and to be known deeply. In these stories, we see five different ways that desire can drive someone.
