Abstract
Physical inactivity is a significant public health concern, contributing to increased risks of chronic diseases such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2022). To address this issue, communities across the United States have implemented physical activity programs to promote healthier lifestyles, including Bourbon County. This project evaluates the impact of a physical activity program in Bourbon County, KY, using the CDC Framework for Program Evaluation to assess its effectiveness, sustainability, and areas for improvement (CDC, 1999).
The primary objective of this evaluation is to determine whether the program has successfully increased participants' physical activity levels and improved overall health outcomes. Additionally, the evaluation will identify strengths and challenges in program implementation to provide evidence-based recommendations for future improvements. This project is particularly relevant for public health professionals, policymakers, and community stakeholders seeking to develop and sustain effective interventions that reduce sedentary behavior and promote long-term health benefits (World Health Organization [WHO], 2020).
This evaluation will offer insights into the program’s impact, scalability, and potential for replication in similar communities by engaging key stakeholders, including program participants, public health officials, local policymakers, and funding organizations. The findings will be used to enhance program quality, address health disparities, and inform future policy decisions regarding physical activity promotion in Bourbon County and beyond.
