L3SMP_E data was retrieved via the National Snow and Ice Data Center Data Access Tool: https://nsidc.org/data/data-access-tool/SPL3SMP_E/versions/5.

The Data Access Tool expects the following:
- Date Range of desired L3SMP_E data
- A bounding box. The coordinates of the bounding box are expected in the following order: Lower Left Longitude (degrees), Lower Left Latitude (degrees), Upper Right Longitude (degrees), and Upper Right Latitude (degrees). 

Once a date range and bounding box are established, a download script can be obtained. This download script can be ran through the command window/terminal (either in a Windows or Linux enviroment). Doing so will initialize the acquisition of the associated L3SMP_E data over the desired date range and domain.
